/////SRS stands for Supplemental Restraint System.@@@@@ It is a term often used in the automotive industry to refer to the safety systems within a vehicle that are designed to supplement the protection provided by seat belts. The SRS includes various components such as airbags, crash sensors, seat belt pretensioners, and electronic control units. The main purpose of the SRS is to provide additional protection to occupants in the event of a collision or sudden deceleration by deploying airbags and tightening seat belts to minimize the risk of injury.

The history of car safety airbags @@@@@Dates back to the 1950s when inventors started exploring the concept of using airbags as a means to protect vehicle occupants. Here is a timeline of notable milestones in the development and implementation of car safety airbags:

1. 1952: John Hetrick, an American engineer, received the first patent for an inflatable safety cushion designed to protect occupants during a collision. His invention used compressed air to inflate the bag.

2. 1953: Hetrick's invention caught the attention of car manufacturers, and the American company Ford conducted further research on airbags. However, these early airbags were relatively crude and not fully reliable.

3. 1967: Inventors Bela Barenyi and Walter Linderer at Mercedes-Benz developed a sensor-based airbag system that incorporated crash detection sensors. This system would measure the deceleration and impact in an accident and trigger the deployment of the airbag.

4. 1971: General Motors began developing their own airbag systems and introduced the first commercially available airbag system in the Buick Electra and the Oldsmobile Toronado.

5. 1981: Mercedes-Benz became the first car manufacturer to offer airbags as standard equipment in their vehicles. These airbags were designed to protect occupants in frontal collisions.

6. 1984: The US government made it mandatory for all new passenger cars to include automatic seatbelts or airbags on the driver's side by 1989 and on both sides by 1993.

7. 1987: Chrysler became the first American automaker to offer driver-side airbags as standard equipment in its vehicles.

8. 1994: The passenger-side airbags became mandatory in the United States for all new cars.

9. Late 1990s: Dual-stage airbags were introduced, allowing airbags to deploy with different force levels depending on the severity of the collision.

10. 1998: Side impact airbags were introduced as an added safety feature for protecting occupants in a side impact collision.

11. Early 2000s: Curtain airbags, also known as head-protecting airbags, were introduced to protect occupants' heads during accidents from both front and side impacts.

12. Modern Advancements: Advancements continue to be made in airbag technology, including the development of knee airbags, rear-seat airbags, and advanced sensors that can detect the position, weight, and severity of the impact, allowing airbags to deploy more effectively.

In summary, the history of car safety airbags spans several decades, with continuous improvements in terms of reliability, effectiveness, and the addition of various types of airbags to protect vehicle occupants in different types of collisions.
